Double Glazing and Draught Proofing

With household bills increasing at their highest rate in 30 years, there has never been a more important time to ensure that your home is adequately insulated – around 35% of heat is lost through windows.  At Lodge Restoration, not only do we specialise in restoring sash and case windows, we also install draught proofing and double glazing.

Draught Proofing

Using weather pile insulating brush strips inserted into new parting beads and batten rods and around the sides of the existing sashes, we aim to eliminate all draughts that can occur in old sash and case windows.  These will not be visible as they are neatly fitted into beading so the look of your sash and case windows will remain unchanged.

Slimlite Double Glazing

At just 10-12mm thick, Slimlite glazing is designed to fit into original sashes and can be used in listed buildings.  See Grand Design’s presenter and designer, Kevin McCloud’s article, ‘Period drama’; https://www.kensington-sashwindows.co.uk/images/Period_drama_gd_0509.pdf

Shutters

Where possible, we manufacture shutters with an integrated draught proof system.  This offers yet more heat retention and is manufactured to fit in with your original traditional sash and case windows.
